Since 1979, Snehagiri Society has been deeply involved in a number of social welfare programmes. The Society literally became the pillar for the development of the Snehagiri region as it combined efforts of the Society’s members and the local community and transformed the once barren lands of the area into fertile ones now fit for agriculture. Many people got a secure house to call their own through theSnehagiri Housing Scheme. The Lift Irrigation project of Snehagiri Society solved the water scarcity problem of the region. The many vocational training and employment generation programmes provided by the Society were door openers for a better future of the poor women and youth there. It is most certainly an honour for a charitable organisation to be an inevitable part of society for over forty years. The community’s participation was a vital point which helped to identify their actual needs based on which support systems were provided accordingly. The experience and the professionalism of our staff in all these interventions are worthwhile and much appreciated.
The recent calamities in our land ranging from floods to the present COVID-19 virus are causes of great worry for all. During the flood disaster of 2018 and 2019, Snehagiri Society extended a helping hand to the calamity struck people. We are happy that we could do commendable service and bring some relief into the lives of the affected. Currently, the Society is also in the midst of helping the poor who has lost jobs, health or savings to the pandemic. People’s cooperation is the most important factor for the success of Snehagiri Society’s projects. The Government’s assistance through Panchayath Raj Institutions has also been a great support to the Society.
